Paul the Spud comes yet another
set of stories regarding the despicable way our soldiers are being treated as they return from Iraq.
Oh, it's not about anti-war protesters, and certainly not about spitting - there's never been any documented incident of a soldier being spat upon by anti-war protesters. There was that one guy here in Kansas City who, attending a book signing by Jane Fonda, spat in her face. How great that he harbored an imaginary grudge for decades.
Anyway, here's some of the sad details from the story. Garrett Anderson was denied 100% disability because the VA says that his medical records don't say that his shrapnel wounds - which are all over his body - came in the line of his duty as a soldier. His right arm has been amputated below the elbow - among numerous other injuries. He was given a duffel bag by Walter Reed hospital to carry his prosthetic arm. But the duffel bag is gray, not the "official" black, so whenever this soldier who was injured in Iraq fighting the "War on Terror" walks across the hospital campus, other soldiers yell out insults.
I think it's time for some of my famed delicate language:
I don't care who you are or what you've done. But no one gets to claim that they "support the troops" until they finally, completely and publicly repudiate George Bush, his administration and the GOP-led Congress that LIED to bring us into this war, that have CUT the VA's funding, that PRIVATIZED Walter Reed and failed to hold the PRIVATE company running that hospital to any level of accountability, that have CUT veterans' benefits and hazard pay, and that now FORCE our supposedly "volunteer" military to return to Iraq again and again, sick, injured and suffering profound mental and emotional distress.
I'm tired of the bullshit. George W. Bush has no moral standing, no credibility whatsoever regarding anything, but especially when it comes to our soldiers. He is a despicable human being who will be shown in our history books to be a completely amoral, spoiled brat with delusions of grandeur and a goal to become the USA's first dictator.
You can claim that I have "Bush Derangement Syndrome." You can say I'm too angry, or that I'm motivated by hate. By doing so you expose how little you understand of what's been going on for the last 6 years and how little you esteem the people that George Bush is destroying with his insane policies.
