- You know how vitamin supplements are supposed to merely give you "expensive urine?" Here's the thing - OB/GYN's don't believe this, and neither do pregnant/breastfeeding women. My wife's nails are pretty much unbreakable right now due to the vitamins she's taking. And Infant Formula is just powdered dietary supplement/replacement; while it's not considered to be as good as breastmilk, babies can be raised on it exclusively and thrive. Of course the best way to get nutrients is food, but not everyone can eat food that was raised within 100 miles and has undergone minimal processing before finding its way to the table.
- My daughter just fell asleep on the couch. She was having a midday snack, and I let her watch some Wonder Pets, thinking it would keep her awake. I don't know what to do. I'm afraid of my daughter when she gets woken up from naps. The sweet, intelligent and loving child everyone thinks she is gets cast aside, and a snarling, snapping, flailing wild beast appears in her place. A scream-fest now or a kid who won't fall asleep before 10pm: such is being a parent.
- I can smell cigarette smoke coming from a someone traveling 5 car lengths ahead of me, on the interstate, at 75 miles an hour and with the windows closed. I hate cigarette smoke, as well as pipes and cigars. Does that make it weird that I like just about every smoked food? Meats, cheeses, paprika, garlic, it's all good. Maybe us non-smokers wouldn't mind so much if cigarettes came with a little bit of hickory.
